Free Screencasts
March 19, 2011
A screencast is a video of a computer screen. Whatever is on the screen appears in the video. It lets you narrate anything on the screen. Everything is saved.
In 2008, I wrote an article on how you can use screencasting in your business. Read it here:
I have an entire department devoted to using screencasting to set up your own YouTube channel. You can watch 20 screencasts on this.
There is a free service that lets you shoot screencasts as long as 15 minutes. That's usually long enough. (For $9 a year, you can do 60-minutes ones.) It's here:
You can post them on their site. Better, you can upload them to YouTube. Best, you can create a YouTube channel.
I want to promote channel creation. So, if you create a YouTube channel and post at least three screencasts, I'll do a public page on my site on your channel. I want to encourage people to get started in YouTube broadcasting. I want examples of functional channels.
One more requirement: always use a lapel microphone or a good quality mic on a stand to create a video. Never use a built-in mic. Radio Shack sells a cheap lapel mic.
How about a channel on how to use screencast-o-matic?
When you have your channel up and running, send me a link.
