On Canceling Your Subscription to My Q&A Site: It's Your Last Chance to Ask a Question.
You have canceled. Yet you never asked a question.
This is your last chance. Your subscription will soon lapse. This is like free money on the pavement. Reach down and pick it up!
I have some very sharp subscribers who post on the forums. They are a free resource. Make use of this resource before you leave.
This is a question and answer site. I literally begged you not to subscribe if you had no intention of asking a question. I wrote this in the Join Us page.
Now, I am going to do what no publisher ever does. I am asking you not to subscribe if you do not intend to ask questions. This site hinges on the Q&A forums. People ask questions. Others answer.I don't want to take your money under false pretenses. The #1 value of this site is the system of forums. If you have no intention of ever asking any questions, then you really should not subscribe. Make this resolve: "I will post a question within three days."
There is a list of forums of the right-hand side of the home page. Click one after you join. That will take you to the forum. Monitor it. To ask a question, click Post New Question. Easy!
If you have no questions, don't join. I really mean this.
Yet you never asked a question. In this economy, I figure everyone has at least one question. Maybe even two.
You are not alone. Several people cancel each week. Several new ones subscribe. It's a balancing act.
Of those who cancel, at least 80% have never asked a question. If I add one question as a criterion, it's 90%.
Whenever I get a cancellation, I check to see if he asked a question. If he didn't, I send this reply in the subject box: Last Chance.
Not one of these people has ever come back to ask a question. Ever.
Some people do not want answers. Why not? Because they do not want confirmation of what they suspect: they are going to go through the economic wringer, and to relieve some of this pain later, they must make major changes in their lifestyle today. They do not want to make any major change. So, they cancel. But it often takes months.
Why do they subscribe titled Specific Answers? I wish I knew. One thing I do know. They do not want specific answers. They will do anything to avoid specific answers.
But you still can ask. If you really want answers, you can get them. After all, this is a Q&A site. You spent a lot of money to be a member. Why not ask . . . just this once?
