Here is the chart of the adjusted monetary base, published by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. It shows a policy of monetary tightening from late February 2010 until early January 2011. This was as close to the long-promised "exit strategy" that the Federal Reserve has come.
The chart indicates to what extend the exit strategy has been abandoned.
