Two Videos: Prof. Philip Zimbardo on "The Secret Power of Time"

May 10, 2011

Prof. Philip Zimbardo, a psychologist at Stanford, here presents his case for the importance of time perspective in children. From a young age -- four years old -- a child's view of the future becomes an indicator of future success in life.

In a wonderful RSA animation, you get the basic thesis. The second video is far longer, but it contains some wonderful videos of children in his experiment on time perspective.

What Ludwig von Mises wrote in Chapter XVIII of Human Action (1949), and what Edward Banfield wrote in chapter 3 of The Unheavenly City (1970), Zimbardo's research illustrates.
