The colleges must change. But they don't change. They are too big to change, too bureaucratic. There are ways around the system that let a student earn a B.A. from an accredited school for under $15,000, total. But very few students know about this. Fewer still do it.

The parent who goes into debt to fund his child's college education is making a mistake. So is the child who runs up a tab of $23,000, which is the average these days.
