Consider the task of the home school mother when the child reaches high school. She has no reliable textbooks to assign.
Yes, there are play-pretend Christian textbooks. All of them are deeply influenced by humanism: the right-wing Enlightenment. They play off the right-wing Enlightenment against the left-wing Enlightenment, as if this solved the problem. It doesn't. The right-wing Enlightenment had surrendered to the left-wing Enlightenment in America by 1912.
Most mothers do not recognize this in their preferred textbooks. They have no background to alert them. They trust the educational experts. These experts are not experts. They themselves have been taken in by the humanists. They were unable to make the break.
We have been ruled by generations of textbooks written for the public schools. The Christian school textbooks are baptized versions of public school textbooks.
Tax-funded schools have always been agencies used by the state to recruit believers in state sovereignty. The public schools in Massachusetts were the model. The state finally abolished tax funding of the Congregational churches (mostly theologically liberal) in 1832. Within five years, the Unitarian lawyer Horace Mann was in charge of the newly created public schools.
Nationalism replaced Christianity in the textbooks. The most widely read history book in American history was the high school textbook written by David Saville Muzzey. I was assigned it in 1958. The first edition was published in 1911. Muzzey was a liberal Presbyterian, a graduate of Union Theological Seminary in New York. He hated the Puritans. He hated evangelical Christianity. He relegated 1607-1765 to one chapter. He loved the Progressives. For 50 years, most Americans used his textbook. I have written about him here: http://www.lewrockwell.com/north/north461.html.
Every home school mother is compromised. She has been taught baptized humanism, and she does not recognize it in field after field. The Christian history textbooks are based on humanist nationalism. They do not tell the truth about the American Revolution, the Constitution, and the broken treaties with the Indians. What the government did to the Indians it then did to the rest of us. The first agency of American socialism was the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
There are books defending Southern secession. So what? Show me one that gives an honest account of the cowardly attack by Congressman Preston Brooks on Senator Sumner. Armed with a cane, Brooks entered the Senate chamber with Congressman Lawrence Keitt of South Carolina. While Keitt kept anyone from coming to Sumner's defense, Brooks beat Sumner senseless. Southern honor? An armed man beating an unarmed man, with his colleague keeping anyone from stopping him? Both men were thrown out of the House of Representatives. Both were hailed by the Southern press as heroes. Both were re-elected and again took their seats in the House.
Keitt led the South Carolina secession movement in 1861. When, in the secession convention, some representatives wanted to list the North's tariff as a cause, Keitt fought them. It would trivilaize secession, he said, if they listed any economic reason. The reason for secession was the defense of slavery, he insisted. Keitt had the votes. Let me ask the obvious. If the South seceded because of northern tariffs, why did widespread Southern resistance come only in late 1859, after John Brown's raid on the Federal armory at Harper's Ferry? Was Brown seeking a revolution of slaves in order to impose a higher tariff? Brown was a murderous monster. He was funded by New England Unitarian ministers, the secret six -- another untold story in the textbooks. But his cause was abolitionism, not tariff policy.
And so it goes, on issue after issue. The home school mother must re-think every subject. She must find supporting materials. She must boil it all down into forms that her children will be able to use.
She is nearly alone. There is no mother-generated comprehensive curriculum.

So, they must bootstrap everything. They cannot do it alone, yet there is no division of labor.

To restructure a culture takes time. It takes generations to move from the old worldview to the new one. There are always holdouts who defend the old order. There are other holdouts who compromised with the old order in the name of the new order. They do not want full-scale reconstruction. That would expose them as compromisers. They resent this.
This is the plight of today's home school mothers. They are told to teach their children a new worldview. Then they are handed tools produced by the compromisers.
Each generation should become more consistent. It takes generations to purify the inheritance. It really takes until the end of time.
