Across the USA, 17 states have outlawed dishwashing detergents with phosphorous. This has forced the manufacturers to drop the old formulas, which really worked. None of the "new, improved" products works as well as the old ones. Read about this here and here.
There is a legal way around the ban. Also cheap.
Begin with a thorough cleaning of your dishwasher.
Next, get some 20 Mule Team Borax.
