Merry Christmas!
Next week, there will be lots of post-Christmas sales. There will be steep discounts. Start buying next year's Christmas stuff at 50% off: Christmas cards, generic presents, wrapping paper, decorations, Christmas music CDs.
These discounts will more than make up for the added bills on your credit card next month. Pay off the bills fast.
If you're up to your eyeballs in debt, don't spend anything. You're in the trap. But most people aren't in this condition. For them, this is the season to be jolly: steep discounts, thereby making next year's season even jollier.
If there are turkeys offered for sale at a discount, buy several. Put them in the freezer. Turkey is good for you. Turkey sandwiches, loaded with mayonnaise, are wonderful to eat all year.
Another tip: start watching the classifieds for tools, exercise equipment, and other big-ticket items that you have been thinking about buying. The tickets will be much smaller next week. People unload old stuff after Christmas to make room for all the new stuff. They sell this stuff at rock-bottom prices.
Most people refuse to buy any more stuff in the weeks after Christmas. This is why low prices are universal: low demand. Smart people do their buying the week after Christmas, not the week before.
It's the thought that counts. Think "discounts."
