There Were No Bimbo Eruptions in Ron Paul's Office in 1976

Back in 1992, one of Bill Clinton's female advisers referred to his "bimbo eruptions." There was one accusation after another. But liberals are soft on adultery, so he did not suffer any consequences. He even got away with the Lewinsky affair. Impeached, yes, but not convicted.
Herman Cain will not escape from this latest accusation. The affair was too recent. His constituents are Tea Party people. For them, marital fidelity is something to be defended. I think his campaign is finished. He is tarred and feathered.
Newt Gingrich has a closet full of similar skeletons. Same problem.
The liberal media covered for FDR, JFK, and LBJ. They did not have to cover for Truman, Eisenhower (after World War II was over), Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and the Bushes. They had fun with Clinton. That marked the end of the hypocrisy and the beginning of the public's acceptance of immorality.
The liberals say: "A man's private sexual conduct is not an issue for politics." Baloney. It is of the essence of politics . . . and everything else. The old saying is true: "If a man will cheat on his wife, he will cheat on anyone." If a man has no consideration for his wife, how far should anyone trust him? For anyone in the highest political office, squeaky clean is the should be the standard. It should be in the church, too.
This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God? Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil. Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil (I Timothy 3:1-7).
When I was on Ron Paul's staff, there was never a hint of scandal. The female staffers were young, except for the lady who did constituent services, a middle-aged lady named Edith. She shared a small room with me and John Robbins. But the young women were there for ideological reasons.
His wife was still in Texas. He had not bought a house. He was elected in a special election in April 1976. He was defeated that November: 268 votes out of 180,000. He went back to Texas. He was re-elected in 1978.
He has never had to deal with scandals. The media would have found one by now. He has too many women patients who trust him. For an ob/gyn physician, this kind of scandal would be fatal.
Obama is also scandal-free. He seems to be a good family man. His conduct here is exemplary. There is no necessary connection between liberalism and adultery. The same was true of Truman and Carter.
We need a morally exemplary man in the White House. We also need a morally exemplary man who rejects the liberals' version of the eighth commandment: "Thou shalt not steal, except by majority vote."
