How to Stick It to Local Government Laws That Benefit the Good Old Boys
Dec. 17, 2011
Government tyranny comes is many forms at many levels. Local government have endless little tyrannies that put money into the bank accounts of Good Old Buys. Local citizens are unaware of these sweet deals. The deals get no publicity.
The Institute of Justice has adopted a two-pronged defensive strategy: (1) sue the bastards; (2) make fun of them with low-budget videos.
Suing them costs money. Donating to pro-free market public interest law organizations gets a lot of bang for your buck.
Producing videos is cheap. The Institute of Justice produces them in abundance.
Some of them a funny. They use ridicule. Here is one example: a video against licensing tour guides in New Orleans.
Here is another funny one. It's on the dentists' cartel. The cartel wants the government to arrest anyone who sells teeth-whitening services in a mall.
Other videos are straight. Here is a scary one. It deals with asset forfeiture.
Here is one on controls on selling farm products locally.
Finally, here is its own promotional video. How could it fail to work? It begins with Jerome Moross's theme from The Big Country.
