Here, CNN's Erin Burnett asks the obvious question: How is it that a 76-year-old candidate is the favorite among younger Republican voters?
She begins with a clip of Ron Paul on auditing the Federal Reserve. That is a good place to start. Here is a topic that no previous Presidential candidate has raised. Why has he gained traction with it?
These people cannot see the obvious. They do not ask Lenin's question: "Who? Whom?" In short, who wins and who loses? Who will pay the bills for today's policies? In monetary policy? In fiscal policy?
Then she goes on to interview college-age students. They tell her exactly why they are behind Paul.
In stark contrast to this is neoconservative William Kristol's assessment of Ron Paul -- and, by implication, these young people's role in the Republican Party.
The neocons see the threat Paul poses. They are unwilling to admit that his voice represents a new and growing interest group within the Republican Party. They cannot believe that, after 60 years of hibernation, the Taft wing has reappeared. Neither can the country club Republicans. But they have no Eisenhower, beloved by the masses. They also have no Reagan.
