Your Job and Your Calling: My Speech to 200 Collegians and Scholars
March 6, 2012
What you are about to hear should be common knowledge. It isn't. You should have been told this no later than your first year in high school. You weren't.
I have given variations of this speech to a wide range of audiences: high school students, unemployed adult residents of the Memphis ghetto, and college professors. It is always well received. Everyone seems to understand it.
This version was delivered to the week-long summer program of the Mises Institute: the Mises University. I gave it in 2009, in the Great Recession.
